Duhu
|
Lise
trained the Word made Flesh women, last week was their second week.
With
3 Duhus, we attended an event at the US embassy where the main subjects were strategies to start and manage small
businesses and creating and maintaining well-functioning business networks as
well as best practices.
I did a cost analysis for the soap business
including all the costs. There is a possibility to reduce the cost of
production if we remove the Castrol oil but the wholesale price we had set
needs to be increased. We are yet to see if the clients are willing to pay
more. The document is on google drive, shared with Gabie
Worked on a draft of Duhu budget with Gabie.
This week, Lise will be training, editing the
operations manual, revising Didier’s business plan and working on Claudine’s
business plan.

Spiritual
integration
|
After
the following two Friday, Belay staff will start the study on Ephesians.
Janet
came at DuHope last week, and taught the women some basic science lessons about
which they had questions.
This
week Marlene and Heather are going to research about the churches to link to the
women. So far they know that Victoria goes to EAR, they had asked Gabie to
follow up on that.
This
coming week as it is the last week of the month, there will be prayers
instead of the bible study.
Next
week but one, Marlene and Heather are planning to show a Christian movie to
the women.

DuHope
|
Marlene
talked the women and 6 expressed the need to follow the literacy training:
those are all the 3 Jeanne, Redempta, Chantal and Viictoria.
As
soon as Marlene gets the budget, the next step will be to find the material. Meanwhile, the women have the
assignment of thinking of the best time to study
For
the moment Mpinga and Gabie don’t think the summer collection will work out
because spring is not selling. Mpinga is going to talk to Jamie about the
summer collection, to see what she thinks about it
Mpinga
visited Joanita’s shop and saw that they need more inventory
Mpinga
wants to visit Uzury, at their airport branch to help with the display of
DuHope products.
.
We
need to pray for orders because right now there aren’t any and it is bad
because if we don’t get them, DuHope will close.
Heather
asked Mpinga to send her the list of items that are not selling so that she
can promote it.
In
the event at the embassy, DuHope made about 20000 rwf
The
people from Minicom, need to see DuHope workshop sometimes this week, it is
another thing to pray about.
The
women are going to take care of the rabbits starting next month. DuHope wants
them to be trained so that they can know how to take care of the rabbits.

Financial
administration
|
Last
week, Maurice took some time off.
This
week he will be working on CIT.
Maurice
has discussed with Jamie about an income generating project of having the
women be teleco agents, they would be selling airtime, the idea still needs
some thinking , we need to discuss how this can work and benefit the women.
The meeting to discuss that is scheduled on April 3rd..

Communication
|
Heather
is meeting Gogo tomorrow to interview her for a blog.
Heather
wants to get more stories from the DuHope women. She is going to have Marlene
translate some of the stories she already has. Also she will have the women
sign consent forms for these stories to go out.
Heather
will be absent in April.
Heather
wants to announce to the women that she is leaving and she thinking of which
gifts to give to them, she asked the team to give her ideas.
Lise
and Gabie suggested that the gift might go in the loan fund

Notes:
The team discussed the need of a loan for DuHope and
Mpinga, confirmed that we do need it. She will send to Lise a list of what we
need more investment for and how much that will look like. Lise will then after
discuss numbers with Chad
