The move: possibility to relocate Belay’s office
Last Thursday, Jan5th, a new order from the City of Kigali came saying that all businesses operating from residential areas need to relocate to commercial areas. This may or may not concern Belay’s Rwanda office. Jamie has made initial contacts with the landlord to analyze the matter.
DuHope workshop is more concerned with the matter because relocating it would be hard.
Maurice needs to follow up with the landlord through emails.
Lise needs to follow up on the possibility for a house to change from being residential to being commercial.
We all need to pray for a better solution for this matter, remembering that no matter how hard things are, we will resolve this with integrity
The work plan
Follow up on Belay Rwanda’s strategic plan, we are working on the 2017 work plan. The team was asked to ask all the questions they have about the work plan sheet. The questions asked were:
1.      What shall we put under activity and what shall we put under weeks?
the answer was to record the activities under the ‘activity’ column and under ‘weeks’ column, considering the completion date.
2.      What if a goal or an activity is executed by many people?
Under ‘weeks’ column, each assigned person will specify what they need to do about that activity and when they will get it done
3.      What if we don’t execute the plan due to unexpected activities
As this is a living document, we expect to make necessary changes over time. We will be flexible where necessary
Everyone needs to fill out the work plan by January 13, except Maurice whose deadline extended to January 17 because he had another deadline of reformatting Quickbooks that is due on January 15.
Motivations and capabilities
On January 6, we had a training with Alicia on Authentic leadership and she gave us an assignment to help us identify our sweet spots.
Each person needs to email the completed assignment to Gabie and Jamie by 27th January.
We will add to the assignment 3 goals that we need to accomplish in our department and in our professional development
Living in God’s zone study
This is a study that we can go through as staff, that would help us identify our sweet spot!
We will start it after the nicene creed, it will be taught in 3 weeks
Debrief: reflection on December and prayer requests
Reflection of the last days:
Heather: She is preparing to go back to Spokane and she is enrolled to 2 trainings.
Gabie: for DuHope business, we are working a season ahead, it is a good thing.
Lise: grateful that the curriculum for the advanced CE is done

Peter: he’s been looking into the literacy curriculum
Jamie: Jamie believes she has the most hardworking team, she wanted to let the team know that she appreciates. Another reflection is that Belay Rwanda start taking ownership of DuHope

Maurice: it is a good thing that we have a 2017 work plan, it is a good discipline
Prayer request
Heather: there are still things that are unclear to her, but she is praying that things work out
Gabie: to find the right person to run operations at DuHope and to be on the exemption list
Lise: to be allowed to stay in the office we are working from. Not to be forced to move!
Peter: to find the 2017 Theme for Belay
Jamie: The prayer is that 2017 we all take ownership of DuHope. Jamie challenged the team to ask questions whenever we don’t understand something. Pray over that order of moving and pray for the strategic plan
Maurice: the prayer is that we find the directions to work the plan.
